PRODUCT RELEASES

Project Simulator 3.3 Released April ‘06
This release includes the following enhancements:
• Sensitivity Scenarios – Allows you to define a traditional
scenario (base) and then create additional scenarios (sensitivity) that
describe the types of changes to make to the base scenario. No need to
create additional profiles just to simply change a couple of task values.
•
Turn off “Survival” checkbox in Scenario Manager – Very
useful to easily show the impact survival has on throughput.
•
Disk Usage Reduction – You can now turn off certain reporting
requirements to reduce the disk usage required to run a scenario.
•
Gantt chart enhanced so that all activities can be displayed at once.
•
New Resource Usage chart for “work”, complimenting the unit
time series.
•
Added Import/Export capability.
•
Simulation is now approximately 10-200% faster.
•
Optimization to the user interface makes it faster to load and make changes.
•
Clearing of Simulation Results (Session and Scenario) while still keeping
the session and scenario input information.
•
Disk Usage info for sessions and scenarios displayed.
•
999 Replications can be run (previously 300 was the limit).
•
Summary Survival – Ability to define “Survival” Percent
at the project level (Level1).
•
Auto shutdown of SQL Server when not using application(s).

Process Simulator 5.0 to be released this month!
Not only will version 5.0 allow you to more easily use the Lean methodology
in your model building it will also enable you to more closely model
your system’s downtime and setup behavior. In addition, PCS 5.0
will enable you to easily share your simulation models using the new
packaging feature which will collect all associated files and compress
them into one (all Visio diagrams, shift files, and 3DR saved views files).
This version consists of the following features:
• A new activity type, called a Storage, will replace the Order
Signal and will simplify and extend your ability to model entity reordering
(triggered by level or time).
•
Multiple Storage activities can be connected together to create a Lean
Supermarket object.
•
A new SEND statement can trigger the release of entities to an activity
via a Send route (formerly called the Ordered route).
•
A new activity type, called a Buffer, allows entities to be queued by
LIFO, FIFO, or by entity type.
•
A Buffer activity also allows you to define batching quantities by specific
entity types.
•
Unique processing times and resource requirements can be easily defined
for multiple entity types at an activity.
•
Machine Setup (or changeover) can now be defined at activities.
•
Scheduled-, Unscheduled-, and Usage-based downtimes can now be specified
for resources and activities.
•
The Attach route has a new option which allows you to attach whatever
quantity exists (the exact amount specified for the Attach or less) and
immediately continue on.
•
You can now have multiple Create routes at the same activity.
•
Simulation event tracing and logic debugging capabilities during simulation
run-time have been added for improved model troubleshooting and verification.
•
Percentage routing validation requires the routes to add up to 100% and
the percentage value can be modified directly on the routing connection.
•
Resources can be assigned to groups which in return allows for easier
resource selection and unique statistical reporting.
•
Initial animation speed can be set in Simulation Properties prior to
running.
•
Undo has been improved and optimized.
•
More stencils have been added.
•
Model Packaging allows you to collect and compress all the files associated
with a model into one file (all Visio diagrams, shift files, and 3DR
saved views files) which then can be easily shared with others.
•
The Logic Builder has been enhanced to allow for easier logic definition
including the ability to enter numbers directly into fields. Less mouse…more
keyboard.
•
Plus many other fixes and enhancements!
PRODUCT UPDATES
ProModel, MedModel, and ServiceModel version 7.0.5.207 Maintenance
Release made available in May ’06
This update includes the following changes and fixes:
• Wait Until statement did not work properly in a particular instance
unless Trace was running.
•
If a Free <resource> statement was used in that same resource’s
clock downtime logic, it caused a crash.
•
Variable counters during simulation had different background colors per
digit.
•
Modifying path network mapping information caused the application to
crash.
•
Graphics for Locations, Entities, and Resources were missing when opening
a model.
•
Deleting a location unit and then deleting the parent location caused
a crash.
•
A unidirectional path mapped to go in the opposite direction caused a
crash.
•
Snap to grid in the Graphic Editor was not working.
•
Canceling out of exporting a graphic within Background Graphics caused
a crash.
•
During a SimRunner optimization, ProModel crashed at random experiment
numbers.
•
A combination of a multi-unit resource, preemptive resource DT, and preemptive
location DT caused a crash.
•
An array mapped to a variable that had no statistical collection and
no counter defined caused a “No ROUTE statement encountered” error.
•
In the RDB object model, a column header in the Locations Costing table
was not properly written out to the RDB file.
•
Implemented an ObjectID() system function that returns a unique ID of
an entity.
•
Added the entity ID within the Trace during simulation.
Includes 3DR version 2.0.2.79 containing the following fixes:
• A manual change to the Y-axis value of a Time Weighted Time
Series Plot was not persisting in a saved view.
•
Values using a comma as decimal point when the computer regional settings
are defined to handle a comma were being saved with a decimal point.
•
Views saved in German regional settings did not open correctly in English
regional settings.
•
Axis range values changed in Time-weighted Time Series Plots when the
time unit was set to anything other than hours were not persisting in
a saved view.
•
An error occurred when using a comma as a decimal in the value specified
for the bar width of a Time Series Histogram.
•
Changes made to chart properties were not persisting when selecting or
deselecting a series element in the Display & Alias window.

PCS licensed with a hardware key sometimes crashed when the simulation
was run.
•
Simulation engine files updated to 7.0.5.207.
•
Digital Certificate has been updated so an expired message no longer
appears.
•
PCS model version added to VSD file.
•
Includes 3DR version 2.0.2.79 described above.
