Welcome to BOZIDAR Simulación, a new ProModel partner in Argentina! Daniel Oblitas Garáfulic recently completed his studies in Industrial Engineering at the Universidad del Desarollo in Chile. While working at Aerolineas Argentinas, he was introduced to ProModel by Alain de Norman, our distributor in Brazil. Daniel decided to start a new company and work with Alain to develop the simulation market in Argentina.

CVRD ANNOUNCES CONTINUOUS USAGE OF PROMODEL TECHNOLOGY

Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD - www.cvrd.com.br ) is the largest diversified mining Company in the Americas. Present in 13 Brazilian states and in four continents, it is supported by more than 9,000 kilometers of rail lines and eight port terminals. CVRD is the largest global producer of iron ore and pellets, selling its products to steel industries all over the world. The company is also the second largest producer of manganese and iron alloys, as well as being the largest provider of logistics services in Brazil. Its operations consist of three fully integrated systems, each including a mine, railway, pellet production plant and maritime terminal.

CVRD has five licenses of ProModel which it uses to implement complex decision systems for capacity planning of its main ports.Using their own analysis and the assistance of the local ProModel distributor, Belge Engenharia, the company has made investments that will allow it to supply the growing world demand for iron ore—especially the Chinese market. These may be among the most complex simulation models in the world and include a special user's operation 'cockpit' in MSExcel, integrated by VBA to three main simulation models: one generating the probabilistic queue of ships in the port, another to implement the corresponding schedule of trains to arrive at the port, and the third to run the tradeoffs (demand balancing at the port, including models of all the port equipment).
