2002 Releases

We are pleased to announce the release of ProModel, MedModel, and ServiceModel 2002.

These new releases are packed with new features to help you build, run, and experiment with your models faster than ever. New releases are just one of the benefits of renewing your maintenance and support each year. Your current Maintenance and Support entitles you to deep discounts on new products, software upgrades like this one, access to the best 24-hour technical support in the industry, access to the on-line Solutions Café, our on-line newsletter, free attendance at our annual solutions conference, and automatic priority for training, consulting, and support services from ProModel.

2002 Features

Output Viewer 3DR
View your simulations output in a new, three-dimensional output viewer. The Output Viewer 3DR provides excellent new charting and plotting capabilities. See page 401 in the Users Guide.

Graphic Library
In the past, the default graphic library when creating a new model has been promod4.glb. Now the user can define which graphic library file to use as the default library when creating a new model. See page 344 in the Users Guide.

Software Keys
ProModel users are now given a software key to activate their product instead of a hardware key. If you are upgrading from a previous version of ProModel, please read the Upgrade information below. See also page 26 in the Users Guide.

License Manager
The License Manager application allows you to easily move you software key permanently to another computer, or "check-out" your key temporarily to another machine for a defined period of time. This application will manage all ProModel product licenses on your computer, including Innovate licenses. See page 26 in the Users Guide.

Array Exports for Replications
When exporting arrays to Excel spreadsheets, you can now export the arrays for each replication and scenario. Each replication and scenario is saved to a separate worksheet in the Excel file. See page 264 in the Users Guide.

Anchored Background Graphics
Any background graphic can be "locked" into place so that is cannot be accidentally moved. See page 246 in the Users Guide.

Alignment Function for Graphics
Select multiple background graphics and align them (left, right, centered, to, bottom, or middle) or distribute them evenly. See page 246 in the Users Guide.

Yes to All
When creating model packages, you may now select "Yes to All" when queried.

Variable Display Settings
The settings you choose to make to variable displays will now be retained for every variable window you create in you layout. This means that if you change the size, color, or shape for one variable, all other variable displays you place in the layout will inherit the new display appearance. See page 258 in the Users Guide.

Zoom in a Box
As you run the simulation, you can drag a box around a desired zoom area to quickly zoom in on that area. See page 380 in the Users Guide.

Array Exports for Replications
When exporting arrays to Excel spreadsheets, you can now export the arrays for each replication and scenario. Each replication and scenario is saved to a separate worksheet in the Excel file. See page 264 in the Users Guide.

Graphic Coordinates (x,y)
You may now choose to have the layout window display in the top left corner of the layout screen x,y coordinates of the mouse cursor. See page 99 in the Users Guide.

XLS File Format
Allows the direct reading of .xls files for Arrival files and Entity-Location files. This is in addition to the older .wk1 format that has previously been the standard. See pages 288-289 in the Users Guide.

Pre-translation Check for Path Networks
At simulation run time, when the model code is compiling, a check is done to see if the path networks have changed since the last compile. If they have not changed, then ProModel will not recompile the path network mapping logic. This may save you a considerable amount of time if you model contains complex path networks. See page 140 in the Users Guide.

Upgrading to 2002
If you are upgrading from an earlier version, you will need to complete the following steps to successfully complete your upgrade.
  1. Remove your hardware key from the back of your computer.
  2. Insert your 2002 CD and install ProModel, MedModel, or ServiceModel 2002 by following the on-screen instructions. See page 15 in the Users Guide for more information about installation procedures.
  3. You must now register the software using a valid software key. Run the software to bring up the registration dialog.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to obtain a 30-day software key from ProModel Corp. Entering the 30-day software key will activate the full version of ProModel for 30 days.
  5. Mail your hardware key to ProModel. Cut out and use the Hardware Key Return Form found in the upgrade package.
  6. When ProModel Corp. receives your returned hardware key, you will be contacted by phone or email with a permanent software key.
  7. When your 30-day software key expires, you will be prompted by to enter your permanent software key. Doing so will activate your copy of ProModel 2002 with no time limits.
